Social media is a fantastic way to interact with both current and prospective patients. As social media has become more ingrained in our daily lives, consumers have come to expect more—especially from businesses. If they take the time to comment on a post, they expect a comment or interaction back. If they send you a private message, they expect a quick and thorough response.
But what if communication through social media can help bring you new patients and ALSO be done through your normal patient communication system? Instagram recently rolled out a new feature allowing patients to send you a text message straight from your Instagram business page.
This means that if your office utilizes two-way text messaging, those messages will come straight to your front desk! Many times social media platforms are the last stop before a new patient decides to reach out and schedule their appointment so staying on top of these messages is critical.
If you are interested in turning on this feature on your Instagram profile, you can follow these instructions:
- Log in to your Instagram Business profile
- Select “Edit Profile”
- Click on the “Contact Options” button
- Update your preference to be by “Text”
- Input the phone number you would like to be texted at
That’s it—you’re done! You will start receiving text messages directly through Instagram. The easier it is for potential patients to reach you, the more likely they are to choose you as their next provider. This is just another tool in your arsenal.
