Seattle, Washington–June 2, 2008–Sesame Communications (Sesame), a pioneer in the development of online patient relationship management software for the dental and orthodontic market, today announced the closing of a $3 million round of equity financing. The financing was led by the venture arm of Kidron Corporate Advisors, Kidron Opportunity Fund I. Proceeds from this round will be used for further market expansion in the dental industry with its end-to-end online communications solution.
Founded in 1999, Sesame revolutionized doctor-to-patient communications for dental professionals with the launch of its web-based, legacy database integrator ASP service for orthodontists, Ortho Sesame. In 2005, the Company expanded into the general dental vertical market with a version designed for General Practitioner (GP) practices, Dental Sesame. The company’s core products deliver a suite of services to orthodontists and GPs that improve practice efficiency and drive practice growth and profitability.
In conjunction with this financing, Kidron placed Gary Gigot, a Seattle-based venture capitalist and former VP of Marketing at Microsoft, as Executive Chairman and member of the Board of Directors of Sesame. In this role Gary will oversee the expansion of the company’s product and marketing efforts.
“Sesame has built a solid enterprise through fanatical service to customers, commitment to quality, and a bold company culture. Furthermore, we were impressed with the company’s ability to attract over 13,000 dental professionals and more than a million patients to its service through bootstrapped financing.” said Nicholas Wood, Senior Managing Director of Kidron. “I’m extremely optimistic about the next phase of growth.”
Frith Maier, founder and CEO, explained the choice of Kidron. “We gain a wealth of management expertise through this partnership,” said Maier. “Gary’s joining our operations team really lets us leverage the Kidron investment.”
